In Part 1 of my blog, I told my story of a Tornado that hit the building I was in Greeley, Colorado during a visit to a client this May.

The point I was making in the last blog was that even with a Clear Desk Policy — a policy where employees are urged to clear their desks of documents (and other confidential materials) at the end of each day – the paper trail caused by this tornado could not be calculated.  The problem is that this disaster struck with little notice and in the late morning (11:30am to be exact).  An “end of the day” clear desk policy therefore would have been ineffective.

Thankfully the odds of a similiar disaster striking your organization is slim, but it happened to me in May, in the South East United States during Hurricane Katrina, and the recent ice storm affecting the Northeast (U.S) just last month.  In the attached article I provide some sound advice in order for you organization to be better prepared and for you to sleep more soundly at night.

Your comments are welcome.

To see a video of the actual Tornado, click here.  About 20 seconds into the clip you will see the first building about to be swallowed up.  This is the building I was in at the time.
